We will examine the idea that in order to meet the needs of our learners, today's teacher must be strong, determined, and heroic. Teaching is not for the faint of heart. If you are strong enough to teach-speak out and let your voice be heard!
I have aspired to teach & work with children as long as I can remember. But some people you meet along the path of life put the fire under you to continue along the journey and to teach. Follow your heart...there are lots of children longing for a loving, caring, and beleiving teacher. I've had many along the way and some that stand out way beyond the rest. We can each make a difference to a child and that is what it's all about!
ReplyDeleteDear Rogers Librarian: We would love to hear more from teachers in Arkansas! Spread the word!

When I first meet people and tell them that I teach high school science, I get one of two responses. The first is, "Are you crazy?"
ReplyDeleteThe second is, "You must be brave." I am neither and both. I love teaching. It has been a dream since childhood. I am in my forties now and cannot imagine doing anything else. I enjoy being in the presence of future greatness. My students are bright and funny and sometimes infuriating. I see them as my kids. I am honest with them and hold them accountable just as I would with my own child. I am not brave, but I find that in order to make a difference I have had to step out of my comfort zone at times. Telling the truth is sometimes uncomfortable. If being around people who make me happy is crazy, then sign me up!
